Story:

Kamal Krishna(Karthi) has been born and brought up in a well to do family and they believe in serving people. Chief Minister RK Bhupati (Prakash Raj) passes a GO to build a new fly over because of which Kamal will be losing his ancestral house. To save his house, Kamal leaves to Hyderabad to talk to Railway Minister and convince him. City welcomes Kamal with unexpected twists and lands him in a helpless state. Kamal starts a political game to save his house. Will kamal win the battle ? How will a common man fight against corrupted politicians and its government has to be watched onscreen.

Analysis:

Story focuses on comedy and love story in the first half and the entire second half is concentrated on political ploys. Santhanam has come up with good performance and his comedy timing, witty dialogues are catchy. Debutant director Shankar Dayal dragged the story line with a weak screenplay but raised the tempo by the end of the first half. Pranitha is gorgeous and made her presence felt in the first half but went on missing in the second half of the movie.

First half of the movie is entertaining with good comedy track between Karthi and Santhanam. The way Karthi persuades Radhika to get into politics is convincing. Second half of the movie is all about a political coup with a predictable climax.

Telugu One Perspective:

By watching the trailer, audience can easily understand that Sakuni has got lots of political content in it. The film has underwent lot of re shoots and Saleem Ghouse has been replaced by Prakash Raj in the eleventh hour. New comer Shankar Dayal faltered with the screenplay in many scenes and confused on how to execute it. His choice of casting is good but senior actors Radhika, Nasser, Roja were wasted in their roles with an abrupt ending.

The songs were totally misplaced and will spoil the mood of the movie. Except 'Rangu Bongaram' none of them are impressive. Pranitha is confined to couple of scenes and she completely disappears in the second half. These kind of movies which uses brain over brawn will survive if it has conviction, but in the case of Sakuni though the concept is good too much cinematic liberty and artificial scenes has dented the chances of scoring a box office winner. Overall, Sakuni might go well with the audience who love to see zero conviction movies!

Performances:
Karthi has come up with a decent performance but his character was underplayed in most cases. We can see a typical Karthi with some matured performance in Sakuni. His costumes in the songs are OK and it seems he has put on lot of weight post marriage. Pranitha's presence is felt in the first half and she has nothing to do in the second part. Her glamour is a delight to watch. Prakash Raj and Kota Srinivasa Rao delivered their usual performance. Santhanam steals the show with his comic sense and with impressive one liners. Radhika, Roja and Nasser are OK.

Technicalities:
Editing by Sreekar Prasad could have been better. Cinematography by Muthiah is an asset to the film. Direction by Shankar Daya is not up to the mark. Music and re-recording by GV Prakash Kumar is a big let down. Production values are grand. Action scenes by Arnal Arasu are casual.

Positives:
Karthi performance
Santhanam comedy

Negatives:
Weak screenplay
Songs
Duration of the movie
